I figured it's about time I showed you in some perspective what my 5 favourite albums are. So I've listed them one by one. If you don't already have these please get them somehow, please note that 'somehow' does not mean illegal downloads.
1. Gang Starr - Moment of Truth :
I don't think there's any other album I've heard that can even be classed as as dope as this is.. From America anyway. This is Guru (R.I.P) & DJ Premier at their best. If you haven't heard the title track or the track called 'The Militia' which features Big Shugg & Freddie Foxx, check them out today. The title track is what made me love Hip Hop as an artform, I have to say nowadays I'm glad i heard it as a kid playing a video game, yeah, you wouldn't think it would you?.
2. Notorious B.I.G - Ready to Die :
This album has so many bangers on it I can't list them but if I have to pick one that wasn't a single I'd say 'Unbelievable' as it is my favourite song on it at the moment. Other notables include 'Everyday Struggle', 'Juicy', 'Ready to Die', 'Suicidal Thoughts' & 'Who Shot Ya?'.
3. Mantra - Power Of The Spoken :
I don't mean to favour friends & be bias towards their music but this thing is seriously insane. It's easily my favourite Australian Hip Hop release ever. Tracks I recommend include the title track 'Power Of The Spoken', 'Flightpath', 'Hip Hop Never Left', 'I Hereby Stand' & 'Live It Out' if you want to hear some of the best lyrical Hip Hop out there.
4. Pharoahe Monch - Desire :
Two words for this one - 'Agent Orange' - That's all I got to say on it.
5. Hilltop Hoods - The Calling :
I have to feature something out of my hometown somehow.. This is here because this is the album that made three Adelaide Hills guys bring Australian Hip Hop out of the woodwork forever. Highlight songs are : 'The Calling', 'Laying Blame', 'Tomorrow Will Do', 'Mic Felon', 'The Nosebleed Section' & 'The Certificate'.
